We host many workshops and seminars for the arts in our beautiful Vermont Green Mountain setting, including the Fine Arts, Decorative Arts and writing seminars for all levels of ability. Please call us at 1-800-669-8466 for more information.


We are currently finalizing our 2010 Workshop Schedule, with our new catalogue scheduled for a late December mailing. We have built on our enormously successful 2009 season by adding some new teachers, and adding workshops in new fields like memoir writing and dance. Below is a preliminary list of the current 2010 workshop schedule (as of 12/01/09):


Saturday, May 29th: Songwriting Workshop with Cliff Eberhardt
In conjunction with his appearance at InView the evening of Saturday, May 29th, master songwriter and legendary performer Cliff Eberhardt will conduct a special songwriting Workshop. Song structure, intros, outros, bridges and breaks will be explored. Cliff will listen to songs by participants and suggest how a phrase or chord change can make the melodies more interesting. His goal is "to inspire students to take a new look at their approach to their work. I generally let the class tell me what they're most interested in learning and gear my teaching to satisfy their interest".

Workshop: 2 to 5pm Cost: $30
Performance: 8:30pm, $15 in advance, $20 at door


May 21 thru May 23: The Art of Argentine Tango with Gerd Hirschmann
Gerd is back with his sensual and fun weekend of learning new Tango techniques, or honing your Tango skills. There will be some new Argentine wines at dinner along with some of Katie & Elise's new recipes, and on Saturday night we turn the lights down low, those sexy Tango outfits come out and the dancing goes on all night long!! You'll see why it has become a favorite get away for so many couples.

June 28 thru July 1: "Damn the Rejections, Full Speed Ahead"
Fiction & Memoir Writing with Maralys Wills
The author of 12 books covering multiple genres, and a UCLA writing instructor for 22 years, Maralys brings her vast experience on how to write, and more importantly, how to get published to InView for the first time. This 4 day workshop will cover everything from how to start a manuscript through "selling what you write". Students will be required to submit the first three pages of a manuscript for detailed teacher critique. The workshop tuition includes a copy of Maralys' new book, "Damn the Rejections, Full Speed Ahead".

July 12 thru July 16: Watercolors with Tony van Hasselt, AWS
It's an honor and a thrill for us to have Tony VanHasselt here this year. His many years teaching workshops was the start of what has become a vast industry years later. He now brings his special teaching methods to InView for the first time.
This 5 day workshop will be on location throughout the picturesque Landgrove countryside with afternoon critiques in the studio. Space for this special event is limited, so please book early.

July 19 thru July 23: Writing Children's Literature with Barbara Seuling http://www.barbaraseuling.com
Veteran writer and editor Barbara Seuling ("How to Write a Children's Book and Get it Published") will help you develop your ideas, plot your stories, and revise troublesome manuscripts. As you intensify your skills, your work will be critiqued in a small suportive setting.

Tuition: $750

July 27 thru July 30: Painting and Illustrating with Robert Quakenbush
Bring you art supplies and study with the legendary illustrator Robert Quackenbush in our beautiful studio setting. This 4 day workshop will start with a get together Monday evening, July 26, and follow with 4 intense days of studying with the master himself. It's a great chance to combine some work and some play!

August 2 thru August 6: Advanced Fiction Writing with Barbara Seuling
This advanced workshop is designed for completing a novel in progress.
Work with professional writer and former editor Barbara Seuling ("How to Write a Children's Book and get it Published")in finding the strengths and weaknesses in your manuscript, and learning the methods to revise and complete a successful book. Critique sessions are held every evening.

August 16 thru August 20: "Come Paint with me" (all media) with
Bobbi Mullen
A perennial favorite for over 20 years, participants of varying skill levels have nourished their creative talents with Bobbi Eike Mullen in the serenity of Vermont's Green Mountains. This year's emphasis will be the appreciation and application of "Impressionism", Bobbi's specialty. Students may work in the medium of their choice in our spacious studio or plein air, with plenty of encouragement and technical support from Bobbi.

August 24 thru August 26: "Figure Painting in Pastels & Oils" with
Aline Ordman
A signature member of the Pastel Society of America, Aline is inspired by the Vermont & New Hampshire environment in which she lives. Her paintings not only reflect the area landscapes, but are inspired by the particular qualities of light and color. In 2009 she was awarded the Pastel Journal's First Prize in Figures category, and Third Prize in Landscapes.
This class will focus on understanding how to paint the figure both clothed and nude in terms of value and color.

September 10 thru September 12: Oil Painting with Wilson Bickford
Wilson Bickford is a professional artist, author and instructor who returns to us this year after a successful debut at InView in 2009. He is an award winning artist working in oils, acrylics and watercolors . His recent book, "Wildlife Landscapes you can Paint" is available worldwide.

September 16 thru September 19: Plein Air in Oils with Randall Sexton
Award winning California painter Randall Sexton returns to InView for his
5th year of teaching plein air painting. He is known for his loose style,
colorful palette, and unique eye for unusual subject matter. Highly
sought as an instructor, Randall has a "hands on" approach that involves
technique and knowledge, yet is focused on the individual needs of the
student. Come catch the splendor of Vermont's Autumn plein air.

September 27 thru October 1: Watercolors with Mel Stabin
An internationally known teacher, author, and award winning watercolorist, Mel Stabin is a graduate of Pratt Institute and studied with Ed Whitney. He is the author of "Watercolor: Simple, Fast and Focused", and "The Figure in Watercolor: Simple, Fast and Focused".
The Workshop will reflect the title of Mel's new book, "Watercolor: Simple, Fast & Focused". Emphasis will be on design principles, composition and color/value relationships with the objective of building strong paintings by seeing and thinking simply, painting quickly and energetically, and focusing on the "idea" of the painting. The plein air workshop, designed for beginners to advanced students, includes demonstrations with a step-by-step explanation of solutions to every problem presented by the subject, personal instruction and critiques. Mel paints in a loose, representational style and creates a casual and friendly atmosphere making each workshop a joyful experience.

October 4 thru October 8: "The Language of Light & Color" with
Pam Gordinier (all media)
Pam Pike Gordinier is a member of The Connecticut Academy of Fine Arts, The Copley Society of Boston, and the Connecticut Watercolor Society. An award winning artist, her work hangs in the collections of numerous Fortune 500 companies.
Classes will begin with a short demonstration or mini-lesson that will focus on the language of light and color. Students may work plein air or in the InView studio. They are encouraged to interpret the scene from realistic to abstract. This is a rare oportunity to catch Vermont's peak foliage on canvass.

The standard workshop accomodations rate is $100/per/night, DO (plus 9% Vt tax, and 10% service), which includes a shared room with a private bath, and all meals, starting with dinner the night of arrival, and ending with breakfast the day of departure.
A single standard room is $150/night with all the same inclusions.
